I graduated from LSU in 2019 with a BFA and a concentration in painting. At LSU, I took multiple ceramics courses, which allowed me to learn basic fundamentals and techniques. After traveling and teaching abroad, I moved back to New Orleans in 2022 where I taught art in the Orleans public school system for 2 years. Following a career transition and a leap of faith, I began pouring myself into ceramics at the New Orleans Clay center, where I have been a member since April 2025. This mug, entitled "Pansy", is an attempt to bridge the gap between painting and ceramics. The hand-built mug shows my affinity for patterns, my desire to incorporate 2D techniques into a 3D medium, and a love for the beauty of nature. The handles are slabs coated in underglaze and clear glaze, with the mug itself having both underglaze and multiple layers of glazes using a latex/wax technique.

@sezzy.ulm
