Christina Carlisle, Overlap Teapot, 2024, brownstone clay, thrown, layered glaze and resist, 8" x 8"
I make work that connects elements of place to objects of function. My designs always begin in the landscape, noticing. Observation then becomes artifact. My ceramic work ranges from wheel-thrown vessels to slip cast forms.
I was raised on my family's rice and crawfish farm in southwest Louisiana. I studied landscape architecture at LSU and ceramics at Tulane. I live in New Orleans where I walk my kids to school and make objects with clay.
