Studio Pheebs, a handheld teapot, 2024, ceramic, wheelthrowing and hand building, 11” x 5.5” x 6.5”

As an artist with over a decade of experience in sculpting and molding clay, Pheebs' passion for ceramics has grown into a dedicated craft. Through the interplay of form and function, each piece is a unique expression of vision and craftsmanship. Their journey with clay is a continuous exploration, marked by a commitment to quality and a celebration of the medium’s inherent beauty.

Pheebs holds a degree in sculpture from the University of Washington and a Master of Arts in Education from Pacific Lutheran University. This background has informed both their artistic practice and their passion for teaching.

They primarily work with midrange stoneware clay bodies, drawn to their versatility and strength. Their process involves hand-building and wheel-throwing, with a focus on form, balance, and texture.

Pheebs’ time in New Orleans has influenced them as an artist. Teaching ceramics at Byrdies, a local ceramics studio, has helped them find a strong sense of community and connection within the region’s creative culture. The relationships they have built through teaching and sharing ceramics have enriched their practice and grounded them in the Southern landscape, continually shaping their work.
