Adrien Lee, Spike Mug, 2024, Stoneware, Hand building, 5” x 4”
Adrien Lee is a semi-nomadic artist specializing in large scale figurative ceramic sculpture. Born in Belgium and immigrating to California, Adrien would go on to enlist in the US Marine Corps in 2005 at the age of 17. Adrien received a B.A. at The American University of Paris in 2016. When he is not building large scale figurative sculpture, he is making random “over the top” functional ware with an occasional punk rock twist. Using the process of handbuilding, Adrien’s vessels connect dynamic form and function to create an amusing vessel for holding liquid. In 2023, Adrien was accepted into Tulane University’s MFA graduate program where he continues to make ceramic sculpture and appreciate the Newcomb pottery history he has become a part of.
