A first-generation immigrant born in Taiwan and moved to Los Olivos, California at age 12. Allen received a BFA from San Jose State University and an MFA from The University of Notre Dame. He has been a long-term artist in residence at Mendocino Art Center, Red Lodge Clay Center and Lawrence Arts Center. From 2012 to 2014, Allen served as an Assistant Professor of Ceramics at Central State University. He is currently an Associate Professor of Ceramics at The University of Southern Mississippi. The cups and teapot are thrown and altered porcelain, glaze and fired to cone 10 in reduction.
