Jillian Heusohn, Butterfly Cup, 2023, Wheel thrown porcelain with double walls, newsprint transfers, and underglaze chalk, fired to cone 10, 3.5 x 3.5 x 3.5"
Jillian Heusohn is a ceramic artist based in Tallahassee, FL. She holds a BFA from the University of West Florida and is a 2025 MFA candidate for Florida State University. Jillian creates wheel-thrown ceramic vessels and enhances their tactile qualities by threading into the gaps with distressed leather cord. Through the additional cord, she explores the human desire to fidget, touch, and fully know the objects people interact with on a daily basis. She strives to create unique functional work by utilizing the splitting aesthetics of warm, weathered stoneware and soft, clean porcelaneous clay bodies. Jillian is an active artist within the Southeast; she was awarded a Creative Residency at the Hambidge Center for Creative Arts and Sciences and has recently participated in shows such as Little Things (Atlanta, GA), Sip 2024: A Ceramic Cup Show (Savannah, GA), and Fired Up (Panama City, FL).
