Porcelain
Handbuilt, Fingerprinted Exterior, Worded Interior
“I am an artist and educator currently working primarily in clay. I am particularly interested in the material's ability to register and record touch, and my work often explores avenues of social and emotional connection while grappling with notions of documentation, preservation and control, as well as my own role as object-maker and consumer. Though my approach to concept, form and technique shifts with each body of work, it is always in response to my surroundings. Since the pandemic I have been considering the role of language, in lieu of touch, in our connections with one another.
I received my MFA in ceramics at Louisiana State University, and my BFA from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. My range of professional experience includes assistant gallery director, university adjunct professor, art instructor for various community education programs, ceramics technician for universities and commercial enterprises, and a small business owner. I recently relocated to San Pedro from Baton Rouge.”
