“Learning and the pursuit of inspiration have kept me wandering around the world. Being born and raised in a plurinational country (Ecuador) influenced me to pursue ancestral knowledge, myths and rituals. My artistic career started at the age of 8 when I was admitted to study classical music at the National Conservatory of Music in Ecuador. After 12 years, I graduated as a piano teacher. Free to pursue other art forms I moved on to study fine arts and graphic design at ESPOL (Ec) getting my Bachelor’s degree in Arts. In 2011 I studied Etching and Engraving with Alejandra Winkhaus in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2014 I learned Pre-columbian ceramics at the MAAC (Ec). The same year I won a scholarship to study Batik at a Universitas Negeri Semarang in Indonesia, this would bring me to learn Meditation in Myanmar and Thangka Painting in Ladakh, India.
In 2016, I came to the USA living the mystics in multicultural New Orleans working as a portrait artist. Now I work in ceramics at my home studio on the northshore.
I’ve witnessed the deep connection indigenous people experience with Mother Earth and learned the wisdom of Aents, a word in shuar (nation from the Amazon) that describes that everything is alive: humans, animals, supernatural beings, plants and objects. The illumination produced by this multicultural dialogue through their diverse visions and knowledge, is what I reflect in my work. Manifesting that everything has force, is alive and has power. Nature, as a shadow is omnipresent, it occupies everything and is the essence of ALL our existence. My vision is Art that brings soul to objects and transmits Aents.“
All are handmade pieces using hand-built techniques and extremely delicate ornaments, fine painting and gold details complement this work in porcelain or stoneware.
