Ina Kaur (b. 1980) is a multidisciplinary artist whose conceptually driven practice addresses the imbalances and injustices within social, cultural, and ecological environments. Working through intersectional and decolonial frameworks, she explores the lingering impacts of colonialism, identity politics, and the complexities of belonging. Her work has been exhibited widely and recognized through grants, awards, and invitations to lecture and present across America, Europe, and South Asia.

Kaur earned her MFA in Printmaking from Purdue University and in Ceramics from Tulane University. She currently serves as Curator of Creative Practice and Community Engagement Coordinator at the Newcomb Art Museum while teaching studio art at Tulane University. A native of New Delhi, India, she now lives and works in New Orleans, LA.

Through a feminist lens, Kaur’s practice intertwines multiple realities and lived concerns, employing both literal and metaphorical landscapes to question how knowledge and being are constructed. Her utilitarian vessel forms—organic, hand-built, and rooted in simplicity—are designed to be held, embraced, and lived with, carrying subtle social messages within their everyday presence.

Her broader body of work moves fluidly across mediums, challenging cultural constructs and restrictive beliefs. By reimagining self, identity, and belonging beyond the lens of dominant norms and oppressive power, Kaur embraces the unsettled space of freedom, fluidity, and the perspective of the “other.” Her simplified forms and layered conceptual frameworks allow for seamless transitions between the tangible and the intangible, creating a practice that is both materially grounded and philosophically expansive.
