Jeff Brown is a Professor of Art at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA. He has been part of the Nicholls family since 2003. He teaches all levels of Ceramics and oversees the galleries as the Exhibition Coordinator. Jeff received his M.F.A. from Ohio University and his B.F.A. from University of Florida. Prior to graduate school Jeff was an Artist-In-Residence at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, TN. Jeff works primarily with clay exploring both functional pottery and sculptural forms. Most of his work is completed in either wood burning or sodium vapor atmospheric kilns to achieve weathered and aged surfaces. His building technique involves wheel thrown and altered parts, which are then assembled to complete the finished form. Enjoys using different types of clay such as porcelain and stoneware.
