Savannah Phillips was born in Southeast Louisiana where she lives and works today. She holds two BA from Southeastern Louisiana University in communications and visual arts with a dual concentration in ceramics and photography and a French minor. Because of her close proximity to ecological disasters including major land loss and fossil fuel pollution, her work often addresses human relationships–both between each other and the environment that sustains us. She has a background working professionally with farmers and is interested in food systems and ecology. In her ceramics practice, she experiments with scale in wheel thrown vessels and hand built sculpture, and she desires to create spaces into which her audiences can step into and interact. She received the Pat K. Ferrell Endowed Scholarship in Ceramics award in December 2024. Phillips has recently shown at the SLU Contemporary Art Gallery and The Front Gallery in NOLA.
