BURROW: Warren in Green, 2026, stoneware, glaze, underglaze, wheel thrown body with hand-pulled and carved handle, $379
“Our warren, destroyed. Men came. Filled in the burrows. Couldn't get out. There was a strange sound. Hissing. The air turned bad. Runs blocked with dead bodies. Couldn't get out. Everything turned mad. Warren, herbs, roots, grass... ... all pushed into the earth.
Men have always hated us.
No. They just destroyed the warren because we were in their way.”
- Watership Down
BURROW extracts stills from moments of death and transforms them into something between the beautiful and macabre. A series that pulls motifs from the 1978 film “Watership Down,” BURROW questions the hidden morality and ethics of human consumption. You must eat to live; a living being must die for you to eat. Time spent processing meat rabbits challenges the mind to ruminate on the things we eat, the lives we take, and what comes after.
